Sholom Park

Two years ago I was invited to design a labyrinth for a spiritual nature park. The park is located about 5 miles west I-75 in Ocala, Florida just north of highway 200 in the beautiful horse farm rolling hills and grassy meadows. As I walked through the meadow I felt the spirit within me asking questions about the beautiful trees and flowers. Those questions are now on small signs along a winding path made of mortar and old brick in an old hour glass pattern that gives one the subtle feeling of being lost in time as you move along casually and quietly.

The path has wooden bridges that cross over a babbling brook where one can stop and watch the fish in a small pond or look at the overflowing waters of the small springhead. One can also sit in the quiet of the rose garden and smell the climbing antique roses or under the old hickory at the center of the sacred walk and reflect.

One can walk the entire park with this contemplative spirit and discover a small butterfly garden, a pond, the enchanted forest, the azalea gardens, and many more places to just relax and watch the birds. Sholom Park is a place dedicated to the sacred in nature and the sacred inside all of us. You are welcome to come and enjoy it anytime from 8 a.m to 5 p.m., it is free and open to the public. A visual tour with a full description with driving instructions are located at the following website:

Come experience the peace of Sholom Park.
